Legs & Leg Hardware
ᅠWooden Hoosier cabinet legs used a couple of key pieces of hardware. First, the leg skirt was used not only for looks but also for strength and to protect the corners of the leg. Below the leg skirt, and above the caster, an ant trap was used. The ant trap is a round disk with a small recess on the top side. The recess could be filled with borax or other chemicals or household items that ants would not or could not crawl over. This piece of hardware made it essentially impossible for ants to climb the legs of the cabinet and get to the food-producing and storage area. Yet another great piece of unique hardware on these classic cabinets.
