Plain Steel Screws
One of the more unique characteristics of antique screws is the use of plain steel. Today all screws are produced with a plating of one kind or another to prevent rust. The screws commonly found in hardware stores are shiny as a result of their zinc coating. This type of screw will stand out like a sore thumb on antique restoration projects. That is why we source only un-plated bare steel screws. They are lightly oiled so they do not rust and can be aged to look as old as your antiques. Available in a variety of heads, lengths, and sizes.
